My skills lie in the deep work. I pay attention to what’s going on at the surface, the ‘presenting problem’ and then we work together to uncover some of the layers below.

Many of the people I work with are highly intelligent professionals, whether they are grappling with career decisions or working through the aftermath of committing serious sexual offences. Despite their knowledge and expertise, they often find themselves confused about their life choices or trapped in harmful behaviours. They know better, yet something keeps them stuck.

Knowledge is invaluable; it helps us navigate our professional contexts, understand historical precedents, and locate ourselves within our disciplines. However, in my experience, it can also serve as a shield, protecting us from truly knowing ourselves. The more we understand the external world, the less we have to explore our internal world. In some cases, this avoidance can feel almost pathological.

My approach gently guides people inward. This takes courage, especially for someone who has spent their life and career avoiding self-exploration.

I like to use the analogy of an ocean. If you’ve ever been snorkelling or scuba diving, you know that first plunge reveals a breathtaking, entirely different world below the surface. There are all sorts of creatures, some familiar and friendly, others odd and disconcerting. It is colourful and vibrant, yet full of shadows. It is simultaneously wondrous beyond belief and wholly terrifying when considering what might be lurking in the deep. Stepping off the shelf into this world is absolutely petrifying, but once you do, you gain an incredible sense of self and context as part of this vast ecosystem.

This is what it’s like to immerse ourselves in our inner world. It is fascinating and disturbing. We face our shadows and the parts of ourselves that feel difficult to bear, while also realising our great potential and the gifts we can tap into.

When you work with me, I’ll be your buddy, right by your side, supporting you to face the scary parts and enabling you to see your potential. Are you ready to submerge yourself?
